beggars can't be choosers

Coming Out is an easy stop for a quick lunch or drink when you visit the coliseum, Gay tourist card not required! Expect mediocre food

disgraceful and criminal

Me and my partner popped in here mid-afternoon for a quick beer (Saturday 13th April 2013 between 3.30 - 4pm). It wasn't particularly busy but the two guys on duty seemed to be rushing around the place in a somewhat confused and agitated manner (as if on speed or something) - in the kitchen there was a great din of plates, pots and pans falling on the floor. It was chaotic and at the same time amusing. However, 1. We asked for Peroni and it certainly wasn't Peroni beer but dedcided not to say anything (it was just a quick drink and opportunity to take advantage of Wi fi). 2. I went to the bar to pay the bill which was 9 Euros for two beers. I handed over 10 euro note. The bar man took the money and put it into the till then walked away - no thank you, no receipt, no good bye and no change! I decided not to challenge the 1 Euro but thought it was a cheek to assume that I would leave a tip. Me and my partner then packed up our map and books into our bag (meanwhile, the Bar Man that took our money was running frantically around the kitchen area) and then left the bar. As soon as we stepped foot outside where people were sitting and passing by he chased after us and aggressively accused of not paying the bill. We could not believe it. We challenged him but he insisted making more of a scene so that people around us were looking. We were firm and to the point. I reminded him that this transaction would have been caught on CCTV - he backed down a bit and stopped making eye contact with us, continuing to accuse us while rushing around the bar area. I then asked for his name and he said, 'Bye...bye'. I will be taking this matter further. Utterly disgraceful! I have learnt to always ask for a receipt and make sure that change is given and tip not assumed....and...never to darken this doorstep again!
